Instructor: Stephanie Barton works in glass, metals, alternative materials and found objects. She teaches at the Guy Mason Center of DC Parks & Rec, and works for the Jewelry Studio of the Corcoran College of Art + Design.

Class description: The Series Project is a fused glass focal pendent, Tab set on an etched copper disc, suspended from a black cord with Fabricated Copper Findings.

This class includes 4 sessions, each of which teaches specific skills:

  • Friday morning session: Introduction to Fused Glass
  • Friday afternoon session: Introduction to Electrolytic Etching of Copper
  • Saturday morning session: Introduction to Piercing with the Jeweler's saw and some finishing and patina techniques
  • Saturday afternoon: Introduction to Chain Making: Neck cord with Fabricated Findings

Materials: Students will have the option of purchasing tools and materials from a supply list provided by instructor, or of paying a supply fee to the instructor to cover use of tools and supplies during class.

Previous metal-working or glass-working experience is not necessary for this course.
