Instructor: Ann Lonegan. Ann grew up in Monkton and attended St. James Academy. She is graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art. Ann works professionally as an artist and a designer.

Class description: Have you ever discovered an unusual object, a shell, a pine cone, a seed or pod, a leaf, or feather and picked it up. What attracted you to this object, its shape, color, texture, patterns? Have you ever thought "Why do I collect these things, what can I do with them?" "Object for Contemplation" is a class designed to take ordinary fragments from our everyday world and recycle them into a beautiful, original, multidimensional collage. Studio experience is not necessary for success as you will be guided step by step from inception to completion.

Materials: Collect natural objects or assemble previously collected "treasures". Next collect interesting pieces of paper such as shopping bags, fancy foil wrappers, lacy doilies, scraps of wrapping paper, wallpapers, selecting for variety of color, pattern, and texture. Pieces of fabric, ribbon, lace may also be useful. You will be provided with the necessary materials and a "container" in which to work but the addition of your own collections will make your project personal. Find a reference to nature in a poem, a bible verse. Copy your chosen verse and bring it to class with your collected materials.
