Robinson's credo as an artist is "Expression without Description". His artistic concerns can be understood as a pursuit of a "New American Impressionism". He aims for painterly warmth and pursues a taste for subjects that have charm and beauty.
As a child Mr. Robinson lived in South Korea where his earliest art training was in Asian brush painting. He graduated magna cum laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in painting in 1978. He resides in Maryland with his wife and two children.
Robinson is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and a member of the Portrait Society of America - having received the "Best Portfolio" award twice, a Certificate of Merit in the International Portrait Competition, and an Honorable Mention in the members only Self-Portrait Competition.
Mr. Robinson is represented by several galleries across the country, and in Northern Baltimore County, Maryland by Saint James' Gallery. "The Art of Good Works."

The best way to paint a portrait is to work from life in a setting familiar to the subject. Robinson's standard medium is oil on canvas with the dimensions of the canvas determined by the intended location of the portrait. Any portrait is intended to be a slice of a wider view, a real feeling for the people and the place. Whether it shows only the head and shoulders or a whole crowd, it is the same expressive whole. Prices of recent portraits have ranged from around $4500 for a 3/4 length portrait to over $12,500 for a full length one, but final pricing will be determined after meeting with Mr. Robinson to discuss the particular design of your portrait.
