Award-winning artist Claudia L. Brookes paints in two mediums, watercolors and oils. She has been selected as a juried competitor in many prestigious plein air competitions since first gaining an interest in these events in 2007. She has been a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society since 2002 and serves on the Society’s board. She was awarded Artist Member status in the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA) in 2010, an honor held by fewer than 10% of the membership. Claudia’s work may be seen in the May 2010 edition of Maryland Arrive Magazine. She teaches watercolor classes to all levels of students, emphasizing the wet-on-wet techniques for which she is best known. Oil is her medium of choice when painting en plein air, and her landscapes feature visible, bold brushstrokes, strong edges, a colorist’s sensibility, and simplification of design.
