Youth Community
Mission Statement: To celebrate our lives as young Christians and attain a greater understanding of our role in God’s larger world.

"O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments; let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant... "

Are YOU called to be our next Youth Community Head?

  Saint James Youth

The Youth Community at St. James is in the middle of ongoing formation. In June of 2007, three of us attended a training workshop for J2A, (Journey to Adulthood), a comprehensive six-year program for youth. Afterward, we began to meet with a number of adults who felt a call to be involved in the discernment process for youth ministry. That process is ongoing.

Sunday Morning Blender - and Rite 13

Sunday Morning Blender is what we call the Family-friendly, all-ages youth group at Saint James! We begin each event with worship at 9:00am in the church and then begin again at 10:15 in the Middle School Art Room. What do we do then? You just can't ever tell - Sometimes we make bread, sometimes we play games, sometimes we undertake fun challenges, sometimes we do service. No matter what we do, however, we always have fun getting to know ourselves and one another better. Sure, it's kind of like a youth mixer - but its even more than that, too - it's a BLENDER!

Beginning next year (God willing) the Blender will transform into a full-fledged Rite-13® program. What will this mean?

  • Sunday School and Youth Group will be one and the same.
  • We'll focus more on issues that are important to Middle Schoolers (and maybe even their parents)
  • We'll begin having "Rite-13" liturgies that will help individuals and families celebrate this important time in the life of their child.
  • Oh . . . and we'll still do all of the fun stuff that we used to, too!
