To hear, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the Holy Scriptures, so that we might be formed in Christ as Christ is formed in us.

Education for Ministry

Education for Ministry (EfM) is the four-year program of theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the University of the South. It covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, theology, and contemporary issues facing the church, supplemented by personal explorations of spiritual growth, theological reflection, and opportunities for ministry. The program grants a certificate at the completion of the four years and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year's work.

Discipleship-A Life of Faith in Community

This year we will study through prayer. text, and fellowship what it means to live a disiple's life in the midst of community. The church began in community and has struggled to find its identity through the give and take of community life. It is our faith that causes us to come together again and again, even when the going is tough. But what we find is strength for the journey, hope for our hearts, and joy in praising God with one another.

We start with a look at the Old Testament, the bedrock of community. In Eugene Peterson's Book, Run With the Horses, we will renew our understanding of why God wants us to experience abundant life. In the commentary on Acts, from the Anglican Association of Scholars, we will see the early church in formation, even as we recognize our own community and our contribution to it. It Archbishop Williams book, Where God Happens, a visit with the early desert fathers and mothers reminds us that God happens between people.
