The Fall 2007 session opens on September 26 and runs through November 14, with a study of the Parables, with the accompanying text, Conversations with Scripture: The Parables by William Brosend. For in-depth study, our optional text is Blowing the Lid Off the God-Box: Opening Up to a Limitless Faith by Anne Robertson.
Winter and Spring's study features the Gospel of Mark with Tom Wright's commentary, "Mark for Everyone", with the optional text "Glad Reunion, Meeting Ourselves in the Lives of Biblical Men and Women", by John Claypool. All texts are available through the Saint James web-site at Amazon.com.
We meet in a relaxed environment in the Parish Library. Each two-hour session opens at 9:30 a.m. with prayer, using a variety of prayer forms, followed by a discussion of the weekly reading assignments. Our time together concludes with a structured Theological Reflection, for those who are interested, based on a model for theological reflection designed by the University of the South for the Education for Ministry program.
As in the past, we hope to have guest appearances by our clergy and other spiritual guides and a half-day retreat in the spring. There is a class fee to cover the cost of non-clergy guides and retreat leaders.
