How we currently communicate.
- This new web site reaches not only current members but also future members and the world. It is meant to be inviting, accessible and useful. Follow the links from the home page and learn more about who we are, what we offer, and why you should consider joining us.
- The Saint James Newsletter is sent monthly to everyone on our mailing list. It includes parish news and events, the Rector's reflections, information from Ministry Communities, and the list of readers, prayer leaders, liturgists, Chalice bearers, ushers and altar guild members assigned for all the liturgies of the month. is our newsletter editor. The 15th of the month is the deadline for Ministry Community Heads to submit articles for publication the subsequent month.
- Our Parish Directory is published once a year. It lists the addresses and phone numbers of members, the clergy, the vestry and the heads of our Ministry Communities. The Directory is available to members of the church. Has your information changed? Contact the church ofiice.
- Sunday Bulletins are handed out in church. They guide us to the right pages in the Prayerbook and the Hymnal so that we can worship together easily. The bulletins also list those for whom we are praying and the thanksgiving and memorial offerings of altar flowers, bread and wine. Announcement of upcoming events are printed along with a calendar of the coming week. The deadline for submission of the upcoming Sunday's announcements is noon on Wednesday.
- Pax Et Bonum, our weekly electronic newsletter is sent to those who specifically and is also archived on our Parish News page.
- The 8, 9 and 10:15 am Sunday Bulletins give the order of worship each Sunday, the list of those for whom we are praying, announcements of activities and classes, and a calendar of upcoming events.
- The Bulletin Boards in the Parish lobby function like our town square. Our eighteen Ministry Communities post information about their current events, invite your participation, and celebrate recently completed projects.
- Name Tags are the way we come to know each other by name. If you do not already have one, there is a sign up sheet on the Entertaining Angels Bulletin Board just outside Macdonald Hall (the Parish Hall). Completed tags are arranged alphabetically on the louvered kiosks in the Parish Lobby. Please put yours on before the service, wear it to coffee hour and then put it back on the kiosk.
- The Museum Window in the Parish Lobby is the place where we display information, pictures, and objects from our extensive archives. When you have been around since 1750 you tend to collect a few things. Sandy Patterson is always looking for ideas, materials and helpers.
We began revitalizing communications in the fall of 2005. In time each Ministry Community will have its own symbol across the various media we use. Having these common elements unifies our presentation visually and makes the information you want easier to find.
Your parish leadership will be able to compose content once and use all or part of it in several places. The content of newsletter articles can be used for web pages, bulletin board displays and Sunday bulletin announcements. This approach will make it easier for Ministry Community heads to communicate more thoroughly and more frequently.
