Theology and Spirit 2011-2012
Discipleship-A Life of Faith in Community

Friday Mornings at 9:00 or On-line

This year we will study through prayer, text, and fellowship what it means to live a disiple's life in the midst of community. The church began in community and has struggled to find its identity through the give and take of community life. It is our faith that causes us to come together again and again, even when the going is tough. But what we find is strength for the journey, hope for our hearts, and joy in praising God with one another.

We start with a look at the Old Testament, the bedrock of community. In Eugene Peterson's Book, Run With the Horses, we will renew our understanding of why God wants us to experience abundant life. In the commentary on Acts, from the Anglican Association of Scholars, we will see the early church in formation, even as we recognize our own community and our contribution to it. In Archbishop Williams' book, Where God Happens, a visit with the early desert fathers and mothers reminds us that God happens between people.

Theology and Spirit begins Friday September 23, at 9 am in the Parish Library. If you cannot join us in person, consider joining us on-line. Contact
